Summary Professional Experience:
Mitchell is a Clinical Consultant and Behaviour Support Practitioner who brings an analytical, solution-focused approach to his work, and who is passionate about the quality-of-life improvements that effective, well-implemented behaviour support can make possible.
Mitchell’s background spans community inclusion, disability support, supported independent living, day programs, social groups and case management, giving him a practical understanding of the environments, relationships and systems that shape a person’s day-to-day lived experience. He has particular experience supporting adults with autism, ADHD, dementia and behaviours of concern.
Mitchell works with participants, families, staff teams and other stakeholders to undertake functional behaviour assessments and develop behaviour support plans that are practical, collaborative and responsive. He values close communication with support teams, regular review of what is and is not working, and clear strategies that can be used consistently across home and community settings.
Mitchell’s approach to behaviour support is grounded in the social model of disability, trauma-informed practice and neurodevelopmental understanding. His approach recognises that effective plans are built through trust, emotional and physical safety, and a clear understanding of how past experiences can influence current behaviour and support needs.
Mitchell is a practical, thoughtful and collaborative practitioner who takes a hands-on approach to modelling consistency and strategies for support teams, ensuring everyone understands the rationale behind each plan.
