Summary Professional Experience:

Andrew Akinlabi is an experienced clinician, with expertise in forensic rehabilitation, behaviour support, risk assessment and mental health. He works with young people and adults with complex needs, including people with disability, psychosocial support needs and involvement with the justice system.

Andrew is passionate about supporting meaningful, sustainable change. His practice is trauma-informed, person-centred and relational. He is known for being approachable, friendly and non-hierarchical, using strong communication and motivational interviewing skills to build trust and rapport.

Andrew brings specialised experience across human services, victim support, mental health recovery and youth justice. He previously worked in justice related roles supporting people through risk assessment, risk management, court advice, electronic monitoring and tailored intervention planning. He has also worked supporting people to transition from acute mental health care back into the community.

Originally from Nigeria, Andrew began his career in biotechnology and academic research before moving into human services in Australia. Andrew brings this background into his clinical work through strong analytical thinking, practical problem-solving and clear report writing. 

Andrew’s work is guided by evidence-informed frameworks including the Risk-Need-Responsivity model and the Good Lives Model. He is especially interested in understanding the reasons behind behaviour, including trauma, and supporting people to move towards safer, more positive futures.
