Stronger Support
for Safer Children
Supporting organisations to create safer, more therapeutic environments for children and young people.
Who is it for?
Our child protection services support organisations and teams working with children, young people and families across complex service environments.
This includes statutory child protection and family support services, out-of-home care providers, disability and therapeutic services, education and health providers, justice services and multidisciplinary care teams.
We have particular experience supporting services working alongside children and young people with multiple and intersecting needs. These may include experiences of trauma, disability, developmental differences, mental health concerns, family violence, grief and loss, placement disruption and involvement with multiple service systems.
How does it work?
Every organisation, team and service environment is different. We work alongside you to understand what’s happening, where support is needed and what will make a practical difference for the children, young people, families and professionals involved.
Depending on your needs, SAL Consulting can provide training and workforce development, positive behaviour support, individual therapy, clinical supervision, assessment, service reviews, practice consultation, policy and procedure review, and service design.
Across this work, we help teams strengthen their understanding of child protection responsibilities, build capability in responding to complex needs and develop approaches that are safe, therapeutic and grounded in the rights of children and young people.
Our approach draws on trauma-informed, neurodevelopmental and attachment-informed practice, with a strong commitment to culturally safe and inclusive ways of working.
Creating safer systems.
Child protection is about more than responding when a child is at risk. It’s about creating the relationships, environments and systems that help children and young people feel safe, stay connected and have the opportunity to thrive.
SAL Consulting works alongside organisations across the child protection sector to strengthen safe, therapeutic and rights-based practice. We bring specialist experience in trauma, neurodevelopment, attachment and complex support needs to help services respond to children, young people and families with care, confidence and consistency.
Culturally Responsive
We recognise the particular importance of culturally responsive practice when working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families. We also consider the experiences and needs of children and young people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and people with diverse identities and experiences.
