Behaviour Support

Positive Support, Practical Strategies

Respectful, person-centred support grounded in neurodevelopmental and trauma-informed practice.

Who is behaviour support for?

SAL Consulting’s behaviour support services are designed for children, young people, and adults experiencing behaviours of concern that may impact safety, wellbeing, or participation in daily life. These services are particularly suited to individuals with:

  • Disability or developmental delay

  • Autism or neurodivergent profiles

  • Trauma and attachment disruptions

  • Mental health concerns or dual diagnosis

  • Complex support needs across disability, education, justice, or care settings

Families, carers, and support providers benefit from structured guidance that supports consistency, clarity, and meaningful progress.

How does it work?

SAL Consulting applies the principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) within a person-centred, trauma-informed framework. Our process includes:

Behaviour Assessment

A comprehensive assessment that explores:

  • The individual’s history, current supports, and lived experience

  • Behavioural patterns and possible functions of behaviour

  • Environmental and relational factors

  • Risk, safety, and engagement indicators

Findings are presented in a detailed report with clear behavioural formulation and support recommendations.

Lifestyle Behaviour Intervention Support Plan

Following assessment, SAL Consulting develops an individualised plan that is:

  • Strengths-based and focused on increasing quality of life

  • Built in collaboration with the individual and their support network

  • Informed by best practice and practical insights

Plans typically include:

  • Client information summary and behavioural formulation

  • Research underpinnings to support understanding

  • Reactive strategies (e.g. Incident Response Plans)

  • Positive programming directions and ecological supports to build skills, reduce risk, and increase meaningful engagement

Our team can also provide implementation support, staff coaching, and ongoing review to ensure strategies are embedded and effective.
