Summary Professional Experience:

Ben is a Behaviour Support Practitioner who develops practical, evidence-informed behaviour support plans that improve quality of life and build independence. He undertakes thorough assessments using reports, home visits, interviews and direct observation to understand the underlying drivers of behaviour and identify meaningful strategies for change.

Ben’s background includes clinical support work in an eating disorder hospital, where he supported children and adults experiencing anorexia and bulimia nervosa. In this role, he helped patients through meals and other distressing interventions, using psychoeducation, calm communication and de-escalation strategies to reduce distress and support engagement.

He also worked in a residential care setting supporting young people aged 16 to 18 as they transitioned towards independent adulthood. This included building daily living skills, encouraging education and employment, and providing support in relation to mental health and substance use challenges.

Ben is known for his calm, approachable manner and his ability to support people experiencing anxiety, depression and other periods of heightened distress. He builds trust quickly and helps people feel safe and supported in unfamiliar or challenging environments.

Ben also brings strong research capability to his practice. During his postgraduate studies, he completed a funded project examining driving behaviour and crash risk, and developed a research proposal exploring visual attention in people with clinical and sub-clinical anorexia. This work reflects his analytical approach and commitment to evidence-based practice.
