Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT™) Assessments.

How do we find the right tools to help?

With the right support, healing is possible.

What is an NMT™ Assessment?

Some children and young people face complex challenges due to early trauma, neglect, or disrupted development. Understanding how these experiences shape brain development is crucial in providing the right support.

The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT™), developed by Dr Bruce Perry, is an evidence-based approach that helps professionals, carers, and families better understand a child’s unique developmental needs.

At SAL Consulting, we are accredited to provide NMT™ assessments, reports, and therapeutic recommendations to help children and young people reach their full potential.

Why NMT?

NMT™ helps make sense of complex behaviours by focusing on how the brain has developed in response to past experiences. This approach is particularly useful for:

• Children with a history of trauma, neglect, or disrupted attachment.

• Young people experiencing behavioural, emotional, or learning difficulties.

• Foster carers, caseworkers, and professionals seeking clear, structured intervention strategies.

How does it work?

An NMT™ Assessment is a comprehensive, neuroscience-informed process that helps create tailored intervention plans for children and young people. The process includes:

File Review – Gathering all available information about the child’s life and history. A detailed history leads to a more comprehensive assessment.

Key Person Interviews – Speaking with carers, teachers, caseworkers, and other key people in the child’s life to gain valuable insights.

Brain Mapping (NMT™ Metric Tool) – Collating the information to create a Brain Map, highlighting the child’s strengths and areas for development.

Analysis & Formulation – Using the assessment results to develop a structured, neuroscience-based intervention plan.

Staffing & Feedback – Meeting with the child’s support team to discuss findings and provide clear, practical recommendations.

Comprehensive Report – Providing a written summary with detailed guidance for carers, professionals, and support networks.
