Summary Professional Experience:
Muriel Scholz is a Clinical Consultant and Occupational Therapist with a strong commitment to client-centred, community-based practice. In her role at SAL Consulting, Muriel completes functional capacity and sensory assessments, contributes to multidisciplinary assessments, and provides direct therapy, progress reports, letters of support and practical recommendations that help people access the supports, equipment and services they need.
Muriel’s work is grounded in occupational therapy frameworks, including the Person-Environment-Occupation model, and shaped by a strong focus on advocacy. She is particularly interested in understanding each person’s goals, circumstances and support network, and finding practical ways to help them participate more fully in everyday life. Muriel supports clients of all ages, with much of her work focussed on children and families.
Muriel brings experience across NDIS, paediatric, family and out-of-home care contexts, where she often works alongside families, carers, services and government systems. She values trauma-informed practice and sees trust, safety and rapport as essential foundations for meaningful therapeutic work. Muriel also has a strong professional interest in remote service delivery and community engagement. She has particularly valued her time working in Maningrida in Arnhem Land, where she deepened her understanding of community-based and culturally safe practice in remote contexts.
Muriel is flexible, persistent and solutions-focused. She enjoys working through complex situations, making sense of different needs and systems, and finding a way forward that reflects what matters most to the person.
