Summary Professional Experience:
Laura is a Senior Clinical Consultant and Behaviour Support Practitioner who supports children, young people, adults, and the systems around them. Her practice is grounded in the belief that understanding the underlying why of behaviour is essential to meaningful, effective support. Known for her calm, consistent, and highly organised approach, Laura brings clarity to complex presentations and translates trauma-informed theory into practical strategies for families, carers, support teams and educators. This includes conducting comprehensive assessments and working alongside teams to strengthen practice and support more consistent, effective outcomes.
Laura brings to her role a distinctive background shaped by experience across community, education and wellbeing. She began her career in primary and special education roles in metropolitan schools and remote communities, later working in school-based positions with the Northern Territory Department of Education. These experiences allowed Laura to strengthen her clinical skills in complex school and family contexts. She also has significant remote outreach experience and has worked alongside Indigenous communities, including implementing wellbeing and engagement initiatives such as the Strong Connection, Strong Heart project in Ramingining.
In her senior clinical role, Laura balances direct practice with mentoring, training and team development. She provides clinical supervision to emerging practitioners, helping them navigate complexity while maintaining a strategic and sustainable approach. Laura is also a skilled trainer, including in the PASII (Proactive Approaches to Safe Incident Intervention) training program, which equips staff and carers to respond to high-risk behaviours and critical incidents safely and proactively. As a practitioner, Laura specialises in Neurodevelopmentally, Attachment, and Trauma Informed (NATI) positive behaviour support, and utilises the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT).
