Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Confidential, short-term counselling for your staff.

Confidential, practical support for your people when work or life gets hard.

Who is EAP for?

SAL Consulting's EAP is for organisations that want to give their people somewhere safe to turn. Staff can use it for work or personal concerns, including:

  • Stress, burnout or feeling overwhelmed

  • Anxiety, low mood or other changes in mental health

  • Relationship and family difficulties

  • Grief and loss

  • Conflict or change at work

  • Exposure to distressing events, including critical incidents

Your staff won’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to get in touch. In fact, many people find it most useful early, when something has only started to build. A good EAP can create long term savings for business, and the right intervention can alleviate distress for your staff. EAP is a classic double bottom line win.

How does it work?

We shape each EAP around the size, needs and locations of your organisation. A program can include:

Confidential counselling

Staff contact us directly to book, by phone 1300 851 795 . They’ll meet with an experienced counsellor, in person at a SAL office, by phone or by telehealth.

If longer-term support would help beyond the scope of your EAP arrangements, we'll talk through the options and help them find the right next step.

Support for managers

Managers can call for advice on supporting a team member, preparing for a hard conversation or making a referral.

Critical incident support

After a serious incident, a death in the workplace or a distressing event with a client, we can support individuals and teams on site or remotely.

Culturally safe support

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff can ask to speak with one of our Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Practitioners in NT and WA.

Reporting you can use

You'll receive regular reports on how the service is being used and the kinds of concerns coming up. Reports never identify individuals.

As always, we'll keep it private.

What staff share stays between them and their practitioner. The only exceptions are the ones set by law, such as a serious risk to someone's safety, and we explain these at the first session.

We can help:

Employers and HR teams

When someone on your team is struggling, you want to help without stepping into their private life. An EAP gives staff a confidential place to talk with an experienced practitioner, at no cost to them. Your business can offer a service you can point staff to with confidence, and support that starts early, before stress turns into sick leave or resignations.

Managers and team leaders

Managers are often the first to notice that something has changed. Our practitioners can help you plan a conversation with someone you're worried about, and guide you on supporting your team after a difficult event. You don't have to work it out alone, or carry it alone either.

Staff and their families

Stress at work. A relationship under strain. Grief, money worries, or a child having a hard time. Whatever is weighing on your staff, they can talk it through with someone who listens properly.

Human services teams

Frontline work in disability, child protection and out-of-home care takes a toll most workplaces never see.

Our practitioners work in these same settings. They understand vicarious trauma, the aftermath of a critical incident and the tiredness that builds over years of caring work. Your staff won't need to explain the job before they can talk about how it's affecting them. Talk to us today.
