October Training Update

Welcome to the October update for the SAL Consulting training team. The end of the year is fast approaching and we’re busily locking in dates for the end 2018 and into 2019.

Our focus for the past couple of months has been the development of a number of programs linked to accredited skill sets.  These have been delivered to some of our disability and out of home care partners and focus on positive behaviour support, working with Autism Spectrum Disorder, understanding the impact of alcohol and other drugs and developing awareness around mental health difficulties.

There is an increasing expectation in many States and Territories that work within the not for profit sector complete accredited training.  We are very fortunate to be able to apply for Smart and Skilled funding to assist in delivering these courses which means that there is little or no cost to our partner organisations.

We have wound up our professional development training for 2018 and are now preparing dates for 2019.  We are excited to continue delivering strong and meaningful training to the human services sector.

For those of you in the education sector we will again be offering our NESA endorsed Creating Inclusive Classrooms webinar series to school educators, counsellors and well-being staff.  We are also going to offer an early learning version of this course for early childhood educators.  Both courses provide an opportunity for participants to discuss how to work with children and young people whose early experience of trauma and/or abuse impacts negatively on their ability to manage within a classroom.  Dates for these courses will go up on our website in November.

Are you part of a local government organisation?  Did you know that your staff may be eligible for funded training under the Local Government Skills Program?  This is part of the  NSW Smart and Skilled funding and allows accredited training to be delivered to any local government staff member in NSW.  If you have staff working in disability, youth work, community services, child protection and family support services, SAL Consulting can develop a short course or full qualification for you.  Our programs can be contextualised to recognise the existing skills and knowledge of your team and deliver meaningful and relevant training.

We continue to expand our training into other States and Territories across Australia.  In the past few months we have delivered training in Tamworth, Murwillumbah, Lismore, Cooma, Newcastle, Nowra, Wagga, Melbourne, Geelong, Alice Springs and across the Sydney metro area.

We still have a little bit of space in the calendar for 2018 if you’re interested in booking some training and we are now allocating resources for 2019 – send us an email with your areas of interest and we would be happy to chat to you about a course.  Contact us on [email protected] or phone our training team on 0439 203 615.
