Brain Camp for young people aged 11-15
Wednesday, 27 & Thursday 28 September 2017
8:30am to 4:30pm, Suite 12, 380 Pennant Hills Road, Pennant Hills
$375 (plenty of food provided, including breakfast!)
This holiday program is designed for young people in Out of Home Care (foster care or residential care) and aims to provide them with:
- An opportunity to meet other young people in a safe supportive environment
- Fun and educational activities, activating different parts of their brains
- Psycho-education about the brain, how it develops, how it processes information and how it controls our behaviour
- Most importantly information about how to learn new ways of responding to stressful situations.
This program will run over two days during the first week of Term 3 school holidays. Each day will be broken up into 4 sessions with each session aiming to provide information, fun and skill development.
The days will include:
- Why do we need a brain and what does it do?
- How do our brains store memories and experiences?
- How come sometimes we feel sad, angry or happy?
- How come sometimes we do things that cause us to get in trouble?
- How can we stop this from happening?

- Mindful Movements

- Getting to know you activity
- Activity – using different parts of the brain to think, feel and move
Session 3
- Different emotions – role plays/drama class
Session 4
- Art/Craft/Music – regulation basics
